CircAspire 2017: Wise Fool NM’s annual pre-professional circus production
The Ups and Downs: A Recipe for Stardust Soup

Are you up above it all with a view of the big picture? Or down in the dirt honing the details? Join Wise Fool students of all ages in this kerfuffle of perspectives: a circus of hilarity and grace that swings from the ceiling, bounces off the ground, and generally stomps to the rhythm of our heartbeats united. CircAspire is Wise Fool’s third annual production featuring youth and adult program participants in a pre-professional extravaganza.

CircAspire’s third annual production promises to thrill and delight, entice the eyes, ears, and heart! The Ups and Downs is brought to life by an uproariously fearless cast of 29 local performers ranging in age over 6 decades! A truly multi-generational performance featuring aerial and acrobatic feats of wonder, clowning, stilt dancing, unicycling, and song!

CircAspire 2017 is directed by Amy Christian and Sarah Jane Moody, with a soundtrack by Ginger Dunnill (local fave DJ Ginger!), visual art by Lorie Corbus, an all-local production team, and a new original piece by Santa Fe Capital High School Dancers.

Wise Fool began the CircAspire program in 2015 to create an opportunity for our pre-professional adult and youth students to level up their performance skills and experience, moving from cabaret-style or kids-only shows to a full-length production with professional direction and a technical production team. CircAspire 2017 directors, Amy Christian and Sarah Jane Moody, are two long-time professional performing artists, teachers, and community activists. A founding member of Wise Fool, Amy has served as artistic director, core artist, producer, and administrator since 1989. Sarah Jane, a professional red-nose performer and teacher, studied at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theater and has taught the subtleties of clowning at Wise Fool for more than a decade.
