Join us in welcoming CA Conrad to Santa Fe for a night of poetry! Conrad will read from his new book, While Standing in Line for Death. We will gather together to celebrate our voices, the politics that we hold dear to us, and share with you how that manifests in our written work.

This event is *FREE* to attend—and we will have a small donation jar to help CA get back to the East Coast for winter!!

With special guests:

Israel Francisco Haros Lopez was born in East Los Angeles to immigrant parents of Mexican descent. He is a recent recipient of the Kindle Project's "Makers Muse Award" for his community work. He brings his firsthand knowledge of the realities of migration, U.S. border policies, and life as a Mexican American to his work with families and youth as a mentor, educator, art instructor, ally, workshop facilitator and activist. Even with a 1.59 High school G.P.A., Israel managed to go back to the community college and raise his grades to get accepted into U.C. Berkeley and receive a degree in English Literature and Chicano Studies followed by an M.F.A in Creative Writing. At formal and informal visual art spaces, Israel creates and collaborates in many interdisciplinary ways including poetry, performance, music, visual art, and video making and curriculum creation. His work addresses a multitude of historical and spiritual layered realities of border politics, identity politics, and the re-interpretation of histories.

Anastasio Wrobel, 29, born in Seattle, WA, is a political visual artist who moonlights as a poet and gender theorist. Their work is made by mixing both analog and digital media processes together to loop and feed the work into various components as it is created. They paint, collage, write, screenprint and photograph most often. Previous projects include The Non-Binary Coloring Book, The Enby Miniatures - a curation of 200 Artist Trading Cards, as well as having written work appear in Original Plumbing, Bealladonna* and The Poetry Project. Currently, they are working on an illustration series of figurative works to celebrate gender-non-conforming and non-binary identites. This work aims at generating artifacts for future generations to build on, and to combat the loss of stories, media, identity and more that has been lost to AIDS, imperial-erasure and mulitudes of ongoing gender-based violences.
