Teatro Paraguas was established in 2004 and has produced more than sixty bilingual plays and plays in English since then, including world premieres and plays by New Mexico playwrights. Our original Poesía Viva! series celebrates the lives and works of world-renowned Hispanic and Latinx poets, including New Mexico poets Jim Sagel and Angel Gonzalez. Our Cuentos series brings traditional Hispanic folktales to life on the stage, featuring our young apprentice actors. The children’s theatre begins its fourth year of classes and performances, and our community celebrations of El Día de los Muertos and A Musical Piñata for Christmas have delighted locals for years.
Teatro Paraguas also hosts poetry readings, flamenco concerts, guest productions, workshops, classes, and community events in our theatre and rehearsal hall.
Located in the Siler-Rufina area since 2009, Teatro Paraguas serves the community of Santa Fe and northern New Mexico with a year-round full plate of exciting events!
