Santa Fe Classic Theater
Santa Fe Classic Theater was founded in 2015 as a non-profit tax-exempt theater company whose purpose is to present and promote the works of classic playwrights, from Sophocles to Shakespeare to Shaw, for multi-cultural audiences in New Mexico. Santa Fe Classic Theater is a professional company committed to the highest standards of excellence in theater.
The founding members are Patrick Briggs, Suzanne Cross, Michael Graves, Jennifer Graves, Barbara Hatch, Kelly Kiernan, John Moeller, Ann Roylance, and Lynn Roylance.
In June, 2019, Santa Fe Classic Theater is proud to bring Romeo and Juliet , directed by Patrick Briggs, to Shakespeare in the Garden in a joint venture with the Santa Fe Botanical Garden (Clayton Bass, CEO), and The Shakespeare Guild (John F. Andrews, President).
Shakespeare in the Garden in previous years has offered meticulously researched and imaginatively directed productions of favorites such as The Tempest in 2017 and A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2018. And it does so in surroundings that encourage attendees to arrive early and enjoy festive Renaissance music while they picnic among native plants and curated sculpture exhibits.
This summer’s performance is dedicated in memoriam to founding member Michael Graves, whose enthusiasm and decades of professional Shakespearean performance helped propel SFCT into being.
