Collaborative New Educational Programming at The Adobe Rose
Sundays @ 7, The Rose’s new creative educational outreach, is designed to give performing artists, writers, and directors the opportunity and community in which to further develop their craft and hone a personal process of approaching their own work while stimulating and affecting the work of others.
Developed and lead by award-winning actress and director, Staci Robbins, Sundays @ 7 will continue throughout the year, and as the name suggests, every Sunday at 7 p.m.
Calling all actors, playwrights, and directors: Join us for an open evening of introductions to the exciting classes, workshops, and events offered at The Rose.
ACTORS: Bring a monologue or scene to present, and sign up for auditions for our 2017 Winter/Spring Season of shows.
WRITERS: Bring a snippet of your work-in-progress and hear it read aloud by attending actors.
EVERYONE: Bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring ways of continuing to develop your craft.
Offerings will include 6-week class pods, single workshops, writers’ try-outs, new play readings, and mini productions.
ACTOR STUDY: A class for actors who wish to explore the dynamics of character development and responsibility to the role. Students consistently participate in scene study and character analysis to explore the emotional life of the character and their reality within the story and themselves.
ARTIST WORKSHOPS: Single-night workshops led by guest artists that include writing for the stage and/or screen, stage combat, improv, movement for the stage, young actor study, scenic artistry, theatre tech, and business practices for artists.
NEW PLAY INCUBATOR: An evolving development and introduction of new works through staged readings, workshops, and mini productions by new and veteran playwrights. Coordinating with Actor Study, “try-outs” of new material by local writers wishing to hear their works-in-progress will be read aloud by actors and discussed among Sundays @ 7 artists and directors. Some material will be chosen for further development for staged readings and possible full production during the theater’s New Play Festival, kicking off in Summer of 2017.
