Creating a Scene (in a Restaurant)

  • Second Street Brewery 1607 Paseo De Peralta Santa Fe, NM, 87501 United States (map)

Be the first to experience live theater at Second Street Brewery at the Railyard! And not on a stage, but within the restaurant, at a table or bar stool near you!

Ironweed Productions, in association with Santa Fe Performing Arts, celebrates its 11th year in Santa Fe with “Creating a Scene (in a Restaurant),” a unique site-specific theater experience featuring scenes and monologues from local writers.

Inspired by Ironweed’s 2007 staged reading of David Mamet’s American Buffalo at the Tin Star Saloon, Ironweed requested submissions from local writers of scenes and monologues that take place in a bar or restaurant. After receiving more than sixty submissions, a 75-minute evening of scenes and monologues seamlessly flowing from one to the other has been crafted, featuring pieces written by Jonathan Dixon, Gary Dontzig, Ned Dougherty, Natalie Fox, Bruce King, Kita Mehaffy, Kat Sawyer, Thomas Woodward, and Alaina Warren Zachary. Co-directed by Ironweed Artistic Director Scott Harrison and Wendy Chapin, the production features fifteen local actors.

And who are these actors? Well, that is being kept under wraps. Patrons will know that at 7:30 p.m. on the evening of the performances “something will happen,” but they will not know what or with whom!

Ironweed is very grateful to Second Street Brewery at the Railyard for hosting this event and for their generous support, as well as to Santa Fe Performing Arts for their sponsorship of this project.

There is no admission charge, and seating is on a first come, first served basis. Patrons are encouraged to arrive one hour prior to the performance and to order dinner and/or drinks as part of the experience.
